Getting started
What does sharedHisaab do?
sharedHisaab tracks shared expenses across groups — roommates, families, trips, side projects — and shows you who owes who, recalculated as you add expenses. You log what you paid, who it was for, and how to split it. The app keeps the running balance so you can settle up cleanly.
How do I create a group?
After signing in, tap the + button on the Groups screen, give the group a name, and add members by email. The members you invite will receive an in-app prompt when they sign in.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every new account gets a 45-day free trial. During the trial you can organize up to 2 groups with full access: invite members, log expenses, settle up. No card required.
At the end of the trial you'll be prompted to pick a subscription tier. If you don't subscribe, the groups you organized go read-only for a 90-day grace window so you can still view and export your data, then they archive.
Subscriptions
What are the plans?
| Plan | Price (annual) | Groups covered |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | $9.99/yr | 1 group |
| Household | $19.99/yr | Up to 5 groups |
| Unlimited | $39.99/yr | Unlimited groups |
All plans are billed annually through Apple In-App Purchase.
How do I subscribe?
Tap Profile → Subscription → See plans, choose a tier, and confirm the purchase via the Apple sheet. Apple handles billing, taxes, and the refund process.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Apple manages all subscription billing. To cancel:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Choose sharedHisaab and tap Cancel Subscription
Or, from inside sharedHisaab, tap Profile → Subscription → Manage on Apple, which deep-links you to the same place.
Cancelling stops the renewal — you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
How do refunds work?
Refunds for App Store subscriptions go through Apple, not us. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple denies the refund and you believe there's an error on our side (e.g., a duplicate charge, a sub that didn't activate), email [email protected] and we'll help investigate.
What happens if I downgrade?
To downgrade, change your plan in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad. Apple defers the change until your next renewal date — you keep your current tier until then, with no partial refund or credit. iOS shows the pending change as something like "Renews as [new plan]".
When the new tier takes effect at renewal, if you have more groups than the tier covers, sharedHisaab shows a picker asking you to choose which groups to keep active. The others enter a 90-day read-only grace window — you can still view and export data but not add new expenses. After 90 days those groups archive. You can always upgrade again to reactivate before then.
Account
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from inside the app:
- Tap Profile → Account
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm the prompt
Deletion is permanent. We remove your profile, expenses you authored, and group memberships within 30 days. Groups you own are transferred to another member or archived if no other members remain. See the Privacy Policy §"Your rights" for details.
If you can't access the in-app flow (for example, your account is locked), email [email protected] with the email address on the account and we'll handle deletion manually.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it?
Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen. We'll email a reset link to the address on file. If you don't see the email within 10 minutes, check your spam folder or contact [email protected].
Can I change my email address?
Yes — Profile → Account → Edit email. You'll need to confirm the change via a link sent to the new address.
Privacy & data
What data does sharedHisaab collect?
The minimum needed to run the app — your email, name, the groups and expenses you create, and a device push token if you've granted notification permission. We don't sell or share any of it with advertisers. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
Do you use ads or tracking?
No. sharedHisaab has no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party tracking. The only network calls the app makes are to our own API (api.sharedhisaab.com) and to Apple's StoreKit servers for subscription validation.
Where is my data stored?
On servers operated by us in the United States. We never transfer your account data to a third party. Read the Privacy Policy for the legal detail.
Troubleshooting
My subscription says "Restoring…" and doesn't activate
Pull down on the paywall to refresh, or tap Already subscribed? Restore. If that doesn't fix it, sign out and back in. If that still doesn't fix it, email [email protected] with your account email and the approximate purchase time — we can verify against Apple's server records on our side.
A group member can't see an expense I added
Make sure they've opened the app since you added the expense — sync runs on app foreground. If the expense still doesn't appear, ask them to pull-to-refresh the group's expense list. If it's still missing, send us the group name and expense detail to [email protected].
The app crashes when I do X
Send a description of the steps that triggered the crash, your device model, and your iOS version to [email protected]. iOS sends us anonymized crash logs automatically, but a description of what you were doing helps us match the report to a fix.
